where mammals and computers

programming harmony

    (right now please!)
of a cybernetic forest
filled with pines and electronics
where deer stroll peacefully
past computers
as if they were flowers
with spinning blossoms.

I like to think
    (it has to be!)
of a cybernetic ecology
where we are free of our labors
and joined back to nature,
returned to our mammal
brothers and sisters,
and all watched over
by machines of loving grace.

La repr\u00e9sentation intitul\u00e9e All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace <\/em>constitue l\u2019occasion pour <\/em>Ezra Veldhuis et Bosse Provoost d\u2019explorer la libert\u00e9 et le manque de libert\u00e9 en relation avec la technologie, par le prisme de la mise en sc\u00e8ne du po\u00e8me \u00e9ponyme de Richard Brautigan compos\u00e9 en 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les machines, les m\u00e9dicaments, les algorithmes : une grande partie des nouvelles technologies semble discipliner (le travail) ou viser le contr\u00f4le social, plut\u00f4t que de nous offrir de nouvelles formes de libert\u00e9. Cela signifie-t-il pour autant que le r\u00eave de Richard Brautigan s\u2019est envol\u00e9 ? Vivons-nous d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans une r\u00e9alisation totalement pervertie de ce r\u00eave ? Ou bien la libert\u00e9 promise dans son r\u00eave rec\u00e8le-t-elle encore un potentiel ?

La repr\u00e9sentation oscille entre utopie et scepticisme, entre ivresse et sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 : nous assistons \u00e0 une \u00ab \u00e9cologie cybern\u00e9tique \u00bb, dans laquelle il n’est pas toujours \u00e9vident de savoir si l’enchev\u00eatrement des personnes, des mat\u00e9riaux et des appareils est symbiotique ou conflictuel. La lumi\u00e8re semble vouloir tromper et hypnotiser, la musique nous demande de faire confiance, et de nous laisser aller. La question n’est pas de savoir si nous sommes enchev\u00eatr\u00e9s, mais comment nous louvoyons, souffrons et dansons dans cet enchev\u00eatrement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
