    (right now please!)
of a cybernetic forest
filled with pines and electronics
where deer stroll peacefully
past computers
as if they were flowers
with spinning blossoms.

I like to think
    (it has to be!)
of a cybernetic ecology
where we are free of our labors
and joined back to nature,
returned to our mammal
brothers and sisters,
and all watched over
by machines of loving grace.

In All Watched Over by Machines of Loving Grace<\/em> verkennen Ezra Veldhuis en Bosse Provoost vrijheid en onvrijheid in relatie tot technologie, door het gelijknamige gedicht van Richard Brautigan uit 1967 te ensceneren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Machines, medicijnen, algoritmes: veel nieuwe technologie lijkt eerder (arbeids)disciplinerend of gericht op sociale controle, dan dat ze ons nieuwe vormen van vrijheid geeft. Betekent dit dat Brautigans droom dood is? Leven we al in een totaal geperverteerde realisatie ervan? Of bevat de in zijn droom beloofde vrijheid nog steeds potentieel?

De voorstelling schippert tussen utopie en scepsis, tussen roes en ontnuchtering: we zien een \u201ccybernetische ecologie\u201d, waarin niet altijd duidelijk is of de verstrengelingen tussen mensen, materialen en apparaten symbiotisch of conflictueus zijn. Het licht lijkt te willen misleiden en hypnotiseren, de muziek vraagt om vertrouwen te hebben en los te laten. De vraag is niet \u00f3f we verstrengeld zijn, maar hoe we binnen die verstrengeling laveren, afzien en dansen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c<\/em>Deze voorstelling gaat<\/em> niet alleen over vervlechting, het is<\/em> de vrucht van een geslaagde vervlechting tussen alle <\/em>geledingen van het theatrale apparaat. De fenomenale scenografie van Ezra Veldhuis & Bosse Provoost & Sibran Sampers haakt organisch in met de tribune, de choreografie, het kostuum- en objectenontwerp van Carly Rae Heathcote en het geluidsontwerp van Benne Dousselaere.\u201d
